Every specimen we sell is real, and we show you exactly what you're getting.
The fossil market is full of fakes, composites, and "representative photos." Here's how Primal Slab works, so you never have to guess.
Where our fossils come from
We're not paleontologists, and we won't pretend we dig these out of the desert ourselves. Every specimen comes from fossil dealers we've vetted, with known localities:
- Spinosaurus teeth: Kem Kem Group, Morocco (~95 million years old). Isolated spinosaurid teeth from Kem Kem can't always be pinned to a single species, so we don't overclaim.
- Mosasaur teeth: phosphate deposits, Morocco (~70–66 million years old)
These come from commercially traded deposits and are legal to own and sell in the U.S. We keep purchase records from our dealers on file.
How every specimen is checked
Before anything gets listed, we inspect it ourselves:
- Magnification: enamel texture, ridges, and wear patterns
- UV light: glue, filler, and repairs often glow differently than original fossil
- Hands-on check: weight, cracks, and the root
If it doesn't pass, it doesn't get listed.
Repairs: what we tell you
Many fossil teeth, especially Spinosaurus, have been repaired. That's normal in the trade. Hiding it isn't. Every listing says which applies:
- Natural: no repairs, no fill
- Repaired: a break glued back together, original pieces only
We don't sell teeth with filled or sculpted material.
What you see is what you get
Spinosaurus listings show the exact tooth you'll receive, from multiple angles and with a scale reference. Hand-picked batch listings, like our Mosasaur teeth, show examples from the batch, and we pick yours to match. The tooth, frame, and certificate in every photo are real. No stock photos.
Your certificate
Each specimen ships with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity listing species, locality, age, and repair status.
The display
Each tooth ships in a clear floating display frame that holds it securely and shows it from both sides.

- Not as described? Return it within 14 days for a full refund.
- Lifetime authenticity guarantee: if a qualified paleontologist or established fossil dealer determines in writing that your specimen isn't genuine, return it with its certificate for a full refund. No time limit.
